Madison Perekotiy

I’m Madison Perekotiy, wife to Yuriy and mama to 5 children! I am originally from Birmingham, Alabama, and now based in Bucharest, Romania. I serve as the Eastern European Coordinator for Lifeline Children’s Services Global Orphan Care Network. I earned a Bachelor’s in History and Sociology from Samford University, and am currently studying for a Master’s in Social Work. I am a certified TBRI Practitioner, TIPS Foster Parent Trainer, and Third Culture Kid Debriefer. I am the oldest of 10 children, 7 of whom were adopted from Ukraine.

I met my husband Yuriy in Ukraine in 2008 while serving on a short-term trip. We married in Birmingham in 2011 where we served as foster parents. In 2018 we moved to Odesa, Ukraine, where, alongside local partners, we served children with disabilities, children in orphanage-boarding schools, the deaf community, and children with autism.

We were in the US visiting family when the invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022 and spent one year in Alabama before moving back to Eastern Europe. Now we work with Ukrainians who are refugees in Romania in partnership with local churches and ministries. I love to travel to new places, but I don’t actually like the process of flying (the planes always smell like coffee!)I love walking, family bike rides, baking, and reading to my kids!
