Georgia State Case Work Supervisor

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Status: Full-Time

Position Summary: 

Provides supervision and on-going support, consultation, direction, instruction and advice for the social work and case management staff assigned under the supervision of the State Casework Supervisor and/ or State Director. Counsels clients concerning the options they have regarding an unplanned pregnancy, including factual information about each option, helping to develop an adoption plan if desired, preparing for the adoption process, and connecting with resources if no longer desiring to choose adoption.   

Networks in the community with potential referral sources by building relationships and conducting trainings.   

Responsibilities: 

  • To be a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ to co-workers, clients and ministry partners  
  • Provides individual and group supervision for state social work and case management staff and meets regularly with staff to review cases, identify risks, and develop case/service plans*  
  • Provides support, consultation, direction and instruction for state social work and case management staff*  
  • Ensures new hire and on-going training requirements are met for all state social work and case management staff in order to meet agency, state, federal and Hague standards*  
  • Stays abreast of all state regulations and monitors services to ensure compliance   
  • Guides staff on assessing and evaluating families to ensure families are well equipped to care for children, if within the scope of assigned program(s)  
  • Provides case management supervision and guidance to pregnancy counseling staff who are serving women in unexpected pregnancies, if within the scope of assigned program(s)  
  • Reviews the completed adoptive family and/or birth parent file to evaluate that all required documents have been submitted and comply with date, content, and verification of reported information.  
  • Makes recommendations based on the review of the completed record for follow-up  
  • Gives the final approval of the home study based on the review of the entire record, if within the scope of assigned program(s)  
  • Consults with the appropriate Leadership Team member on situations that merit further investigation or approval for action  
  • Provides contracted supervision for assigned BSW’s and MSW’s requiring such supervision by the State Board of Social Work, if applicable  
  • Contributes to the evaluation of state social work and case management staff during annual evaluations within assigned program(s)  
  • Reviews in-state applications for adoption upon submission to the agency, if within the scope of assigned program(s)  
  • Reviews and approves home studies conducted by unaccredited agencies which require a Certificate of Approval, if within the scope of assigned program(s)  
  • Carry caseload of pregnancy counseling, domestic, and/or international clients, as needed  
  • Supervises any social services related to your state within assigned program(s)  

*For assigned program(s) if more than one CWS is present in the state. 

  • Able to instruct and train in both continuing education and training settings.    
  • Assisting with and/or supervising social work interns’ field placements.  
  • Maintains good working relationships with the state directors, leadership and staff, including resolving all disputes in a Biblically prescribed fashion.  
  • Represents the ministry in a professional manner in and away from the office.  
  • Assisting in agency-related events, including the annual staff retreat, the annual dinner, anniversary celebrations, both international and domestic.  
  • Maintains Social Work License and state-required annual training hours  
  • Assists and provides support to the Dissolution/Disruption Team upon request  
  • Other duties, as assigned. 

Pregnancy Counseling

  • Initial contact and interview with client.  
  • Obtains information about the client to counsel her about the options she has in an adoption plan, including information on the child’s father.  
  • Assists the expectant parent in arranging prenatal care and hospital admission for delivery and connecting her to insurance resources.  
  • Maintains regular contacts with client to provide counseling during and after delivery, including facilitating a good working relationship with the client.  
  • Serves as the expectant parent’s support system in the hospital if desired.  
  • Maintains availability with client as necessary.   
  • Provides the client the means for spiritual growth, including the ministry of evangelism and discipleship, in a non-threatening way.  
  • Serves as an advocate for the client’s best interest.  
  • Explain to the client the legal process of terminating parental rights and respecting her right to withdraw her relinquishments if within the legal period allowed.  
  • Creates legal and other necessary paperwork for discharge and relinquishment of baby.  
  • Maintains availability for post-adoption counseling of the birth parents.  
  • Maintains detailed records of contacts, including case notes, assessments, court documents, legal papers, time sheets, medical and family history, and other required paperwork.  
  • Serves as a liaison with interim care parents and the casework supervisor pertaining to the progress of each child under the worker’s care, including the child’s progress, medical information, doctor’s visits, and other relevant information.  
  • Serves as an advocate for the child’s best interest.  
  • Networks in the community with potential referral sources by building relationships and conducting training.       

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work 
  • Two (2) years paid employment in a child placement agency 
  • Graduate or certified social work license from the applicable state board of licensing 
  • Complete annual training/CEU’s as determined by State regulations and Hague requirements, whichever is greater.  

*Employee must meet above qualifications OR minimum standard qualifications of assigned state – whichever is greater.

State Specific Requirements: 

  • Must meet state minimum standards for licensure, certifications (if any) and annual continuing educational requirements if applicable 
  • Social Work license from applicable state licensing Board, if required. 
  • Complete annual training/CEU’s as determined by State regulations and Hague requirements, whichever is greater.
