Alabama International Post Adoption Specialist

Location: Birmingham, AL

Status: Full-time

Position Summary: 

Performs administrative tasks related to the upkeep of post adoption reporting and ongoing post adoption projects for their assigned program. Provides check-in calls and initial assessments of alumni families. Reviews post adoption reports. 

Responsibilities:

  • To be a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ to co-workers, clients, and ministry partners 
  • Makes post adoption check in calls for all families assigned and reports any concerns to the Post Adoption Manager. 
  • Assists with researching post adoptive resources and tailoring support plans for alumni families. 
  • Reviews post adoption reports for social service needs and program requirements. 
  • Works in cooperation with the Post Adoption Manager to complete any relevant projects to serve post adoptive families, including but not limited to, mass email communications from SAM and updating and maintaining accurate information in Post Adoption LEP.
  • Assists the Post Adoption Manager on creating post adoption program resources, including but not limited to, heritage trip protocols, trends in adoption research, 2- year post adoption survey results, respite care, and adult guardianship.
  • Works in cooperation with assigned Program Managers regarding managing post adoption reports, collection of photos and other required documents, communication with other adoption agencies and social workers, report submissions per program guidelines, and reviewing post adoption reports for assigned programs. 
  • Maintains responsibility for the [email protected] email account. 
  • Keeps track of delinquent post adoption reports for assigned programs and seeks for ways to fulfill post reporting obligations in a timely manner, including communication and reminders to families and workers.
  • Responsible for closing families’ cases, including working with finance regarding any post-adoption reporting refunds that are due to families, moving files in SharePoint, and maintaining accurate information in SAM for assigned programs.
  • Post-adoption Reporting and Admin processes in SAM
  • Responsible for post adoption mail in the Birmingham office for assigned programs.
  • Keeps track of hard copies of workers’ signature pages in the office for assigned programs.
  • Responsible for mailing hard copies of post reports for Haiti and Uganda programs
  • Assists with agency-related events and celebrations
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers and supervisory personnel.
  • Resolves all disputes in a Biblically prescribed manner.
  • Adheres to the Employee Statement and the Statement of Faith.
  • Represents the ministry in a professional manner in and away from the office

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s in social work
  • At least two years’ professional, full-time administrative experience required
