Alabama Building Custodian and Events Coordinator

Location: Birmingham, AL

Type: Part-time

Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting with activities and responsibility for the cleaning and sanitation of the building and offices. Duties include resolving custodial concerns for tenants, reporting repair concerns, and taking inventory of supplies.  

Essential Duties:

Cleaning
• Coordinates cleaning efforts with other cleaning staff in a manner that meets the needs of the tenants and events.
• Maintains workplace sanitation policies and standards for the building.
• Completes cleaning requests in an efficient and timely manner
• Keeps accurate sanitation logs and report on daily activities
• Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
• Performs heavy cleaning duties in a regularly scheduled manner; including but not limited to, carpet shampooing, floor scrubbing, pressure washing, and leaf blowing.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors in cooperation with other cleaning and operations staff.
• Gathers and empties trash.
• Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
• Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
• Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
• Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
• Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture.
• Manage inventory of housekeeping supplies
• Notifies supervisor regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• May assist with deliveries & services from vendors and suppliers
• Assists with special projects and events with guidance from Director of Tenants and Facilities
Events
• Assist with event coordination, presence and oversight, related to Lifeline and tenant events and spaces
• Responsible for the setting up and configuration of spaces according to requested needs of Lifeline and tenants
• Assist with housekeeping related to special events
• Assist with and troubleshoot technology needs and issues that arise leading up to and at building events
• Respond to tenant requests and ensures a timely response to maintenance and housekeeping-related needs
• Manage inventory of housekeeping supplies

Secondary Duties:

  • Assists in agency-related events 
  • Maintains good relationships with co-workers, including solving all disputes in a Biblically prescribed fashion 
  • Represents the agency in a professional manner in and away from the office. 
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
