You Were Made For This: the Johanson Family’s Story

Meet the Johanson family. Jen and her husband, Brodie, have adopted four children through Lifeline. We sat down with Jen to ask her some questions about her adoption experience.

Be Still and Know – Torey Eaves’ Story

A lot of families feel led to adopt. That was not the case for the Eaves family. They didn’t feel like they met the qualifications. They had just finished all the “toddler things” (let’s just say, they were over the diapers). They didn’t have the money. But when Torey saw the blurred face of a little boy from China and heard the Lord say “you have a son; you need to go get him,” everything changed.

Keeping Them Together – The Martin’s Story

The ripple effect of adoption hit us when some old friends, who have themselves adopted seven children, posted an advocacy push for a sibling pair from Costa Rica – a brother, age 5, and a 16-year-old sister who is deaf and has no language. (In fact, One17 posted the advocacy push as well!) As we read the stories of these two children, we couldn’t get them out of our hearts and our minds.

She Is Known – The Buchanan’s Story

Today we had an appointment at the U.S. Embassy to receive Gabby’s visa. We had to hop around to different office windows, gathering different documents. Each window gave us a slip with her given name at birth, since her name was not legally changed to Gabby yet. The slips all read: SINDHU UNKNOWN. Sindhu Unknown.

Protecting Their Story While Telling His

Jennifer and her husband recognized the permanency of the Internet and used that reality to help drive their decisions. In this day and age, we can gain prayer support from around the globe in a matter of minutes. Furthermore, adoptive families often feel isolated in their communities and need to reach out. Circumstances like these make sharing a lot of information tempting because families desperately need support, prayer, and connection with others who understand. In these instances, we may need to seek out a smaller, more private opportunity to share.
