Serving Liberia Through Lifeline

Liberia, on the coast of West Africa, has some of the richest cultural diversity with 16 major indigenous ethnic groups represented in the country. Like many countries in Africa, however, vulnerable children in Liberia lack access to education because of the country’s extreme poverty and injustice. This is why the good news of the gospel, and the love of Christ needs to be shared within this country’s borders! In Liberia, Global Orphan Care partners with 2 like-minded ministries.

REAP

REAP offers education for children and training for young people who are aging out of protective care. The school provides gospel hope while equipping with technical and business skills. Students receive career guidance, hands-on learning opportunities, and biblical teaching that prepares them for the transition to independent life.

The program includes training in auto mechanics, carpentry, agriculture, and tailoring, all with a gospel-centered leadership focus to equip young people for independent life. REAP focuses on sustainability through an aquaponics system and a water bagging project that creates job opportunities, practical training, and financial support for the ministry.

Pastor Destiny, Hope in Action

Destiny runs a network of orphanage directors. He is highly connected to key stakeholders within Liberia who are setting policy for children. He advocates for good, trauma-informed care practices in institutions, as well as encouraging home-based care initiatives within the country.

This ministry holds quarterly meetings for directors to pray together, fellowship, share resources and information and stay engaged with local officials who are working with vulnerable children. It also provides training based on Global Orphan Care’s curriculum that helps caregivers and staff better meet the needs of the children in their care.
