How it Works

A planned gift is any major gift during a donor’s lifetime, or at death, as part of the donor’s overall financial planning, estate planning, or both. Types of gifts include:  

• Bequest – A gift made through a will to a specific nonprofit.
• Insurance – Naming a nonprofit as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
• Charitable Trust – Establishing a trust to benefit a nonprofit.
• Retirement Plan – Designating a nonprofit as a beneficiary of retirement assets.
• Stocks – Donating appreciated stock.
