What are your immediate thoughts or feelings when you hear the word “grief”? Some may feel sad, others may feel pain. You may even be recalling specific memories that bring you both sadness and joy at the same time. For many of us, just mentioning grief can bring up an array of emotions.

While the subject of grief is becoming more well known, we are still learning what grief is and its impacts upon a person, especially a child. As parents and caregivers to our children, we have an extremely important role to play in supporting our children as they experience grief and loss as a result of all they have experienced before coming to our care.
