The Godin Family

Early in our marriage, God planted the idea of adoption on our hearts. But in the midst of a move to China, the births of two biological children, and a busy work life, adoption was placed on hold for a few years.

In December 2012, as Kevin was reading about a friend’s adoption, he sensed the Lord’s leading that now was our time to begin the adoption process. As expats, we had no idea where to begin. Zero. After conducting some research and talking with a few friends, Lifeline’s name kept coming to the forefront.

Beginning with our first contact with Karla Thrasher and throughout the entire process, we have been impressed with Lifeline. Their workers conducted themselves with both professionalism and compassion. Our calls and e-mails were returned promptly, even with the time zone difference! Living in small-town China while adopting brought some unique challenges and adventures in paperwork. We were guided well through each of those situations. During one particularly trying setback with a government agency, Lifeline advocated for our family and helped see our paperwork through, saving us valuable time and extra expense.

Our son came home during Thanksgiving week of 2014. We couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate Thanksgiving, and today we can’t imagine life without Josiah. He is a blessing and a joy to our family. We are eternally grateful for Lifeline’s expertise in expat adoptions and for their help in bringing our son home.
