Lifeline Statement on the Ruling by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Texas Abortion Law

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Lifeline Children’s Services President Herbie Newell made the following statement in support of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upholding a 2017 Texas law banning dismemberment abortions. This law effectively bans the most common abortion procedure for terminating second-trimester pregnancies.

“This is a great victory for all Americans who value the dignity of all human life,” said Herbie Newell, President of Lifeline Children’s Services. “We are encouraged to see Texas modeling a commitment to the sanctity of every life and upholding the commitment to stop the inhumane practice of dismemberment abortions where babies are literally ripped apart. It is our hope and prayer that our nation will fully return to a culture of life, where every child – born and unborn – is deeply valued, protected, and given the opportunity to thrive and flourish. Lifeline advocates daily on behalf of women and children in Texas and around the nation, and consistently defends the truth that every human being is inherently loved and knit together in the image of our Creator.”
