JACKSON, Miss., March 16, 2026 — Lifeline Children’s Services champions Governor Tate Reeves’s announcement that Mississippi will participate in the Trump Administration’s “A Home for Every Child” pilot initiative, a national effort aimed at ensuring every child in foster care has access to a safe and stable home.
The initiative supports President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump’s Executive Order, “Fostering the Future for American Children and Families,” and reflects a collaborative state and federal effort to strengthen the foster care system by expanding the number of foster homes, increasing kinship placements, and strengthening prevention services that help families remain safely together whenever possible.
As a longstanding partner in child welfare efforts, Lifeline Children’s Services is working alongside Mississippi leaders to support the initiative’s goals by implementing practical, community-based solutions including CarePortal, Harbor Families, and Families Count.
Through CarePortal, churches and community members are connected to help meet real-time needs of children and foster families in the child welfare system. Harbor Families equips local churches to provide respite care for vulnerable children while supporting their families, and Families Count is a family restoration and preservation ministry for parents seeking permanency with their children.
“Governor Reeves’s leadership reflects a clear commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe, loving home,” said Lifeline Mississippi State Director John Noblin. “At Lifeline, we are honored to expand our partnership with CPS through this initiative and help carry the work forward at the grassroots level through CarePortal, equipping churches and community members to support foster families, strengthening kinship placements, and empowering those who feel called to become foster parents.”
