Senior Director of Marketing & Communications

Location: Birmingham, AL

Status: Full-time

Position Summary: Executes the overall direction and vision for Lifeline’s messaging & content. Communicates that vision and direction to the rest of the Marketing team and develops a strategic plan to move forward. Additionally, this position trains and hold their team accountable to fulfilling Lifeline’s mission through their work.

Responsibilities:

  • To be a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ to co-workers, clients and ministry partners 
  • Overseeing overall functions and administration of the marketing team 
  • Evaluates and develops a strategic plan for messaging and content 
  • Communicates and directs each step of the overall marketing plan 
  • Collects data analytics for internal use and department evaluation of strategies and approaches 
  • Meet regularly with department/clients to form an outreach strategy that fits within the larger scope of Lifeline’s marketing plan  
  • Helps identify key contacts to engage with Lifeline  
  • Works to engage alumni families as well as prospective adoptive and foster families to further partner with Lifeline year-round 
  • Maintains organizational Outlook messaging calendar 
  • Researches demand for our products and services as well as others in the industry to determine best practices and best methods for communication 
  • Evaluates requests for communications from other departments within the larger scope of Lifeline’s marketing plan 
  • Develops marketing promotions and initiatives   
  • Understands and develops budgets and finance, including expenditures, research and development appropriations, and ROI 
  • Develops and manages advertising campaigns and PR 
  • Builds brand awareness and position 
  • Oversees marketing projects from start to finish 
  • Oversees both digital and content marketing strategy and content marketing 
  • Oversees our donor database management and our usage of the collected data for a response 
  • Oversees planning and execution of podcasts  
  • Manages and oversees other marketing and communication efforts as assigned by the Executive team. 

Secondary Responsibilities: 

  • Assists with and attends agency sponsored events 
  • Represents the agency in a professional manner in and away from the office 
  • Maintains good working relationships with co-workers, including resolving all disputes in a Biblically prescribed fashion 
  • Assists with social media, website development/editing and content development 
  • Oversees stock of Lifeline printed promotional materials, distributing to staff and state offices, places orders as needed 
  • Resolves disputes in a Biblically prescribed manner 
  • Maintains a modest and professional demeanor in and away from the office 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive team. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in marketing, public relations or communications)
  • Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a professional environment directly applying marketing and communication skillsets. Agency or Church communications a plus. 
  • Working knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc. a plus 
  • Knowledge and appreciation for the creative and production process  
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multi-department, multi-stakeholder environment where priorities and participation shift.

Work Environment: 

  • Work is performed in a professional business office. Travel may be necessary from time-to-time, as well as attendance required for offsite meetings and appointments.
