Event Operations Manager

Location: Birmingham, AL

Position Status: Full Time

Position Summary: The Event Operations Manager primary responsibility will be to plan, execute, and oversee fundraising events for Central, and event support for State Directors as needed. The manager is responsible for implementing and executing all Alabama Lifeline events from start to finish including attendance. The role is responsible for providing leadership for committees and volunteers. The manager works closely with the Director of Development Operations to provide a vision, strategy, and execution plans for Alabama statewide events, which includes providing leadership, oversight, and templated packages for other State Directors to use for their events. This position requires strong organizational skills, event planning expertise, and a passion for working in a non-profit ministry environment. This position reports to the Director of Development Operations.

Primary Duties:

  • To be a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ to co-workers, clients and ministry partners
  • Actively leads the team in a manner aligned with scripture including, but not limited to, praying for and with them, sharing scripture in daily activities and leadership, modeling the character of Jesus Christ in interactions with team and any external clients, partners, vendors, etc.
  • Disciples employees for the benefit of our ministry partners (i.e., families in process, expectant parents, etc) through the child placement process
  • Aligns team dynamics, internal & external processes, and final product of team’s work with Biblical principles and with Lifeline’s Core Values

STRATEGY – 20%

  • Work together with the development team and ministry leaders, including VP of Advancement, Director of Development Operations, and Senior Director of Major Giving to cultivate a strategy and implementation plan for events throughout the calendar year in Alabama and throughout the states including but not limited to the following events: Annual Dinners, R(un) for One, Golf Fundraiser, Donor event and outing (i.e. Gatherings for Good), Major Donor Event.
  • Track and analyze event-related data, such as attendance, revenue, expenses, and donor engagement metrics.
  • Prepare post-event reports and evaluations, identifying areas of improvement and making recommendations for future events.
  • Provide regular updates to the ministry’s leadership team on event progress, fundraising goals, and strategic initiatives.
  • Leverage data and analytics to evaluate event success and make data-driven decisions for future events.
  • Implement strategies to enhance donor engagement and loyalty through personalized experiences and recognition.

MANAGEMENT – 30%

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to support event planning and execution. Recruit staff in locations to support the events and help with logistics.
  • Provide guidance and support to event staff, ensuring effective collaboration and teamwork.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities appropriately to ensure smooth operations during events.
  • Partner with the marketing team to develop event-specific marketing plans, including online and offline promotional activities to include various marketing channels, such as social media, email campaigns, press releases, and direct mail,
    to maximize event reach and awareness.
  • Partner with the marketing team to create compelling event collateral and materials.
  • Plan, organize, and manage fundraising events.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure smooth event logistics, including venue selection, catering, audiovisual requirements, and event marketing.
  • Manage event budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure fundraising goals are met.

LOGISTICS – 50%

  • Consult with state offices regarding essential goals and objectives of each event using Birmingham events as a template but allowing for customization relative to each state’s unique context.
  • Assists state directors in planning fundraising events including but not limited to State banquets and other events as they arise.
  • Coordinates communication of event before, during, and after
  • Responsible for developing a plan to secure and ensure value for sponsors that is
  • executed with the Development Team
  • Works with the design and communication team to promote events and ensure desired messaging is translated
  • Manage all direct communication with vendors (venues, food, etc.)
  • Oversee event registration, ticketing, and guest management processes
  • Recruit, organize, train, schedule and lead event volunteers and event volunteer committees
  • Become fully knowledgeable and active in the ministry of Lifeline Children’s
  • Services as one of the main advocates of the ministry.
  • Utilize the full capability of CRM to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors.

  • To serve in leadership roles as assigned by the Development Director
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Assists with and attends ministry sponsored special events, trainings, staff retreat, etc.
  • Represents the ministry in a professional manner in and away from the office.
  • Maintains good working relationships with co-workers, including resolving all disputes in a Biblically prescribed fashion.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field

  • At least 2 years of related work experience, required

Work Environment: 

  • Central Office location unless outside the guidelines of the Remote Worker Policy
