The first step to becoming a foster parent is to attend the orientation meeting prior to participating in the 6-10 week (differs by state) foster parent training course. Here you will learn more about Lifeline’s foster care program and the various requirements for licensure, including state-mandated training, the home study process, and Minimum Standards for Foster Homes. Orientation does not commit you to fostering but is a great place to simply learn more. Please register for the appropriate orientation meeting.

Alabama

Alabama’s licensing classes are called Trauma Informed Partnering for Safety (TIPS). These classes include an orientation followed by 10 weeks of class. Lifeline partners with the Department of Human Resources (DHR) to help equip families for licensure. Lifeline provides the training classes, discipleship through the home study process, and the completed home study. DHR then receives the home study portfolio, licenses the family, and follows them throughout the fostering journey. If you are interested in becoming a licensed foster parent, please plan to attend an Orientation Meeting. Your presence at this meeting is required prior to beginning the TIPS course and is a great way to decide if becoming a foster family is right for you!

 

 

FALL 2018 CLASSES

 

The Church at Brook Hills

This class is open to Shelby and smaller surrounding county families.

Orientation: August 23, 2018, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
First Class: September 62018, and continues for 10 weeks. The classes will be held from 6:00 pm -9:00 pm.
Supplemental reimbursement for childcare will be provided by The Church at Brook Hills.

North River Church

This class is open to Tuscaloosa County families only.

Orientation: August 27, 2018, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
First Class: September 10, 2018, and continues for 10 weeks each Monday through November 12th. The classes will be held from 6:00 pm -9:00 pm.
