The first step to becoming a foster parent is to attend the orientation meeting prior to participating in the 6-10 week (differs by state) foster parent training course. Here you will learn more about Lifeline’s foster care program and the various requirements for licensure, including state-mandated training, the home study process, and Minimum Standards for Foster Homes. Orientation does not commit you to fostering but is a great place to simply learn more. Please register for the appropriate orientation meeting.

Alabama

Alabama’s licensing classes are called Trauma Informed Partnering for Safety (TIPS). These classes include an orientation followed by 10 weeks of class. If you are interested in becoming a licensed foster parent, please plan to attend an Orientation Meeting.
