The Need

When a crisis strikes, many of us rely on relatives and friends for support. But for some families, poverty and social isolation mean that they have no support when needed. Often, a straightforward problem such as postpartum depression or unemployment can be debilitating. Children in these situations often suffer neglect or abuse; some eventually placed in state custody. Harbor Families provides a chance for parents to get back on their feet and to be connected with a community of support.

Our Mission

Harbor Families™ is a discipleship ministry that focuses on keeping families intact as well as equipping and strengthening those we serve. For some families facing crisis, poverty and social isolation mean that they have no support system and what seem not to be major difficulties can be debilitating. These circumstances can also lead to a higher risk of children being abused or neglected.

Our Model

With our holistic approach we, in partnership with our local churches and volunteer coaches, come alongside vulnerable families, meet them where they are, and offer support, resources, and connection to community of the Body of Christ. Volunteer host families are also available to host children when needed to provide parents a  chance to get back on their feet.  The ultimate goal of Harbor Families is to point families toward Christ as their ultimate hope with a focus on family restoration and reunification.
