Webinar info Meeting: South Carolina Foster Care
December 2 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm CST
There are currently over 4,000 children in foster care in South Carolina and only about 2,500 licensed foster families. These children need a temporary home while their birth families are working towards goals that prepare them to be reunified with their children.
Of the 1,500 foster families needed, about 70% are needed to care for children 8+ years old and more than half are needed to care for siblings.
Lifeline’s foster parenting ministry exists to extend the grace, compassion and love of Jesus Christ to children and birth families in the foster care system. We believe that every child placement is a unique opportunity to minister to the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of that child, and in many cases, his birth family. Lifeline believes that a child’s needs are best met under the guidance of Christian foster parents who can ensure the safety, well-being and development of children during a time of great uncertainty. Our desire is to help lessen the burden of child welfare agencies to recruit more foster families by partnering with local churches to recruit, train, and support these families. Lifeline desires to partner with families who are called to share the hope found in Christ with both the children in care as well as their birth families and the DSS professionals working with them.
Please join us for this upcoming info webinar about Foster Care, Family Restoration and Wrap Around Care! We will talk through Lifeline’s model of family restoration (both becoming and supporting foster parents), the statistics of kids in care, and what the licensing process looks like. Attending an info meeting does not commit you to becoming a foster or respite parent, but is a great next step as you consider the ministry of foster care & family restoration and see if your family can foster, respite, mentor, provide emergency care or wrap around those families and professionals involved in this work.
