Foster & Adoptive Parent CEU Training: Human Trafficking
October 7 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm CDT
This is a training session that will educate and inform you on what human trafficking is, who it affects, and what you can do. Every year in Alabama, there are approximately 10,000 victims of sex trafficking. Of those 10,000, 57% are children. These astounding numbers result in over $110 million being spent on commercial sex in just the greater Birmingham area alone. Statistics show that 1 in 9 children are approached online by a predator. This can ultimately lead to sexual abuse, exploitation, and eventually sex trafficking. Our communities need hope, particularly a belief that our society and world can choose a different path besides one where countless children are preyed upon, exploited, and destroyed because of greed. We want to shine the hope that together we can awaken from our sleep to recognize the horrific nightmare in which our children are living. Together with knowledge we can reclaim our children and rise from the ashes of this devastation. Join us as we reveal the truth about what human trafficking really looks like in our community. Blanket Fort Hope believes that we can forge a path of purpose and hope for our children.
Blanket Fort Hope exists to serve children of sex trafficking. Our primary goal is to build Alabama’s first and only crisis center devoted to these precious child victims. This center is crucial to serving victims who spend most of their lives in what we call “the red zone”. By providing trauma services and safe housing, we can be sure to provide them with a real shot at a future.
