Foster & Adoptive Parent CEU Training: Behavior 101
October 29 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm CDT
Join us for an in person CEU as we discuss what trauma is and how it affects the brain and behavior. Sonia Martin will help us understand physiologically what is happening when a child “flips their lid” and seems to have uncontrollable “melt downs” or “shuts down” or “runs away” and how caregivers can intervene to help that child respond appropriately. She will also discuss 6 Typical Trauma Behaviors -Lying, Cheating, Stealing, Manipulation/Need for Control, Violence/Aggression, and Hoarding. She will provide practical strategies to caregivers for reducing negative behavior and demonstrate accompanying sensory components to assist children in developing new behaviors.
This CEU will be held at Talladega County DHR (1010 Ashland Hwy) in Alabama. Social distancing and sanitary measures will be taken to protect the speaker and participants. No childcare will be provided.
