For five weeks this summer, we will gather as a foster care community and learn from the book The Whole Brained Child. Through this study you will learn from Daniel J. Siegel, M.D. and Tina Payne Bryson, Ph.D. about how a child’s brain is wired, how emotions affect your child, and parenting strategies that will promote healthy growth in your kiddos. You will be reading one chapter each week (except the first week you will read two chapters). This will be a peer facilitated, high participation book club. Our desire is that parents will join us for every session.
You will need to purchase, borrow, or download a copy ahead of time and read the introduction and chapters one and two before attending on July 1st. You can find the book here.
This book study will be offered as a video conference meeting via Zoom. Plan to attend the CEU with a strong internet connection so you can turn ON your camera for each online meeting. The face to face interaction among parents is a key component of the study’s success.
The registration deadline is June 24th.
CEUs for foster parents will be issued at the end of the 5 week class by Lifeline Children’s Services for submission to your licensing agency.
