Lifeline’s Moldova Program is considered a pilot program as Lifeline has not yet seen a child come home from this country. We expect most children who are eligible for international adoption from Moldova to be older children and sibling groups. These children may have varying levels of developmental and medical needs.

Lifeline will receive a list of children available for adoption with ages, sibling information (if applicable), and medical needs included. If there is a waiting family who would be an appropriate fit, we will request additional information from Moldova’s central authority — the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova. Lifeline then submits a referral on behalf of the matched family and wait for Moldova’s acceptance to move forward.

The estimated timeline for adopting from Moldova is uncertain, as it is a pilot program. However, a family’s openness to age range, special needs, and sibling groups will likely impact this as well.

Families will travel to Moldova three separate times. The first is a 30-day bonding trip to establish a relationship with the child. The second trip will include court proceedings and continued time with the child. The third trip’s purpose is to obtain the final court decision, and file for the child’s travel and finalization documents.

About Moldova

Lifeline Children’s Services is honored to not only be newly licensed and accredited to serve children and families through international adoption in Moldova, but the only US adoption agency authorized for adoption in this country. This expansion reflects our commitment to bringing the hope of a forever family to more vulnerable children around the world. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to begin working with local organizations and authorities in Moldova to advocate for children who are waiting.

The Need

Lifeline anticipates Moldovan children as young as infants and up to 18 years old to be eligible for international adoption. However, children who are older, part of sibling groups, or who have moderate to significant medical needs often wait much longer for a permanent home. These children deserve the stability, safety, and love of a Christ-centered family—and Lifeline is committed to advocating on their behalf.

How You Can Help

Lifeline is seeking 10 pilot families to join us in launching the Moldova program. Through this opportunity, we are advocating for the international adoption of children who are older, part of a sibling group, or have moderate to significant special needs. Families who are open to stepping into these stories of redemption will be guided and supported by our experienced team every step of the way.
