About Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is a beautiful place where thousands of tourists visit each year. But beyond the walls of luxurious resorts, thousands of children live on the streets facing a future that seems hopeless.

How We Help

(un)adopted® partners with Niños de la Luz, who have a home in the Dominican Republic where 13 boys live who have faced the hardships of life on the street. At the boys’ home, they live in a family environment, are taught life and job skills, and are shown the love of Christ. (un)adopted works alongside Niños to equip those who care for and are influential in the lives of these children, and also to equip the children while sharing the gospel of Christ with them. Most recently, we partnered with Niños de la Luz to build a second home on the property to house 12–15 more boys and reach them with the good news of the gospel.

Stories of Redemption

Meet Emmanuel

Meet Emmanuel. Emmanuel lives in the Dominican Republic at Niños de la Luz, (un)adopted’s partner boys’ home. Emmanuel is 17 years old and has lived at Niños de la Luz for six years. While living in the family environment of Ninos de la Luz with 13 “brothers”, Emmanuel has grown in the gifts and skills God has given him. He is extremely athletic and enjoys baseball, basketball, and skateboarding. Emmanuel also loves to draw and is a skilled artist. He has emerged as a leader with an adventurous spirit and even volunteers several times a week helping younger children at a local school. As Emmanuel grows into a young man, he dreams of using the gifts and skills God has given him to be an art teacher.
