Lifeline’s work through (un)adopted literally makes the difference between life and death for many precious children around the world. In April 2016, a Lifeline team visited an orphanage partner in southeastern China for a look into how Lifeline’s work is impacting the care for children in the orphanage. However, the visit proved to be a divine appointment that would drastically change the course of a little girl’s life.

Two days prior to the team’s visit, a very sick four-month-old little girl was left in front of the orphanage. This tiny, frail baby girl with blue lips and paper-thin skin drew attention immediately from (un)adopted’s medical coordinator. Baby Sophie’s caregivers were concerned because she had not been able to hold down any formula since her arrival, and her breathing was extremely labored. Sophie was hovering near the brink of death.

The team sought permission from the orphanage director to move Sophie to Lifeline’s Foster Center, only 45 minutes away. Sophie’s life depended on swift action, and the Lord had been orchestrating intervention long before she was abandoned: just two days prior to the team’s visit, God provided an opening at Lifeline’s Foster Center as another sweet little boy had just been adopted by his forever family. In an unprecedented decision, the orphanage director granted permission for Sophie to be immediately transferred.

Soon, Sophie was transported to the local hospital, where the staff of the foster center and other local believers had the opportunity to provide care around the clock. Many opportunities began to open for them to share the Hope that they had. Everyone was amazed that anyone would care so deeply for a child who was not their own.

Your continued giving to Lifeline and (un)adopted makes it possible for Sophie to receive the love and care that she needs. Our hope is that she will be adopted into a forever family that will disciple her and point her to Jesus—the only One who can heal her eternally. Please continue to pray, give, and go as the next chapter of Sophie’s life unfolds.

Lifeline is currently advocating for more than 600 waiting children like Sophie in China and around the world–-they too are waiting for their forever family. Will you impact the lives of children like Sophie by helping Lifeline meet our overall need of $900,000 before December 31, 2016? An investment of $2,500 impacts one life.
