Response to the Unexpected: Attachment

The recommended and mandated safe responses to the novel coronavirus require most of us to veer out of our normal routines and schedules. Parents are working from home, and children are schooling at home. There are no play dates, lunch with friends or family, trips, or outings. Although these situations can be frustrating and overwhelming, they provide opportunities to refocus on our relationships with our children. In the busyness of our lives, we sometimes lose sight of the importance of parent-child connection. The intense time together during social distancing allows us to take time to revisit the building blocks of attachment, do a bit of review, and practice fine-tuning some of the crucial parts of connection.
