The holidays can be such a whirlwind of GREAT BIG emotions for adoptive families. If you are waiting for your child to come home, it can be a time tinged with sadness and a feeling of incompleteness. For families newly home, it can be the time you’ve been looking forward to, for what seemed like ages, but also incredibly overwhelming as you try to navigate the new waters around you. For families who have been home longer, holidays may start to have a more “normal” (whatever that is) feel, but there may be new struggles or new waters to navigate.
Overall, there is a feeling of joy to celebrate Christ with your precious children. Furthermore, we are excited that our children, who had once been without a family, have so much family to love them. Nevertheless, the holidays can be overwhelming on a good day for anybody.
