A Brazil State of Mind

To to carry out the ministry to which He has called us, God works through the resources and staff within Lifeline’s doors and through countless partners outside the walls of Lifeline offices. Currently, we have two incredible opportunities, and we are looking for individuals and families to join us. One of these opportunities is right in our back yard (click here) and the other is a continent away. We are looking for some great people to join us on these journeys. Are we looking for you?

Are you a missionally-minded Christ follower, adventurous, and enjoy situations that require flexibility?

Lifeline is one of four U.S. agencies that have been accredited to partner with Brazil in international adoption, and if these characteristics are true of your family, then we may be looking for you! We are accepting our first ten pilot families for Brazil. Our heart is to begin our program with a few pilot families that will be the first to walk through the international adoption process with Lifeline in Brazil. Due to the nature of being part of a pilot program, families seeking to be accepted into the program at this time should understand the need to be focused on the Gospel purpose of adoption and partnership, be flexible, and be patient as we walk through learning the program more together. We seek families that have a deep love for Brazil; any experience with the language and the culture is also beneficial.

This program in Brazil will be unique in that we will have the opportunity to work closely with the CEJA state offices in addition to the federal central authority. Brazil is a beautiful and very diverse country. Lifeline’s Latin America Director, Beth Stanley, explains her excitement with this new partnership, “I am personally so excited to get the opportunity to work more closely with our amazing team on the ground and to advocate for the children of Brazil.”

Check out a few quick facts about adopting internationally from Brazil and ask God if He is leading your family to defend the fatherless through this new partnership:

  • Children eligible for adoption: Older children (over seven years old) with or without medical needs, sibling groups, and possibly children of all ages with medical needs
  • Trip length: One trip, six-eight weeks (Possibly flexible if one parent needs to travel back to U.S. half-way through)
  • Estimated timeline: Two-three years
  • Matching process: Currently, families are matched directly by government
  • In-country team: Great team on the ground with Marcia and Marcos
