Lifeline has had an adoption program in Serbia since July of 2014. Serbia allows families the opportunity to pursue children available for adoption between ages of two (2) months and 18 years. We anticipate children who are older with minor to moderate and significant special needs to be made available for adoption. It is typical for the Serbian adoption authority, The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Policy, to give preference to domestic adoption in their country before children become available for international adoption. Children must be made available for domestic adoption for one year before being made available for international adoption. Special considerations are given for Serbian citizens living in the United States. Serbians, Roma, Hungarian and Bosniaks make up some of the ethnicity of Serbian children.
There have been very few adoptions from Serbia to the United States over the last three years.
How We Help
Lifeline is beginning to open up our Serbia program. We are seeking now for a strong pilot family to help us navigate this program
