Lifeline’s Individual Special Focus List

 

The children below are specifically assigned to Lifeline by the CCCWA for the special focus program. We are blessed to be able to advocate for these precious children. To be matched with one of these children, you will need to have a dossier in China within 6 months.

**We try to keep this list as accurate and updated as possible. However, all of the children listed are from our agency specific “special focus” list and may have already found a family by the time you inquire about them. If you have any questions about any of the children listed please contact us.**

We work with a wonderful organization, the International Adoption Clinic at UAB, located in Birmingham, AL, that can help you learn what might be involved medically with each child before you adopt. The International Clinic can also provide physical and occupational therapy as well as medical expertise after you adopt your child. They are wonderful in helping your family to be better prepared for your special needs child as well as a wonderful place to take your child after you return home from China.

**Please note that we are publishing only when a child has been matched and PA (preliminary approval) has been received from China. Lifeline will maintain internal “holds” for children and continue to form a list of interest as requests are received.**

Caris is described as lovely, introverted, and quiet. She will wave her hands when she is happy. She enjoys listening to music and dancing. Caris likes attention and enjoys being cuddled by those she is close with. It is stated that she is serious most of the time but will smile occasionally when being teased. She is a curious little girl who enjoys exploring outside!

In the classroom Chad helps the teacher put things away. He is an independent child who expresses himself through language. He gets along well with others and can “care and help others”. Chad is described as curious, warm, outgoing, compassionate, and adored. According to his file, “By the education for several years, he has improved greatly in intelligence development and all directions, and has little difference in intelligence compare with peers.” It also states, “He hopes to have his own family, his own dad and mom.”

When Danica arrived, her eyes were tightly closed, she had dark skin, and was thin and small. After approximately one month, she slowly began to open her eyes. Due to her cleft lip and palate and the extent of her cleft palate, she was unable to use a bottle to drink milk. As a result, she had to have a very small amount every time she ate. Now, she is able to drink and she has become much chubbier. Normally, she eats very well and then sleeps. When she wakes up, she can play by herself. Danica’s vision is rather weak. She likes when people hug her. When she sleeps she needs to be wrapped up so that she feels safe and secure. If her hands and feet move about, she does not sleep well. Her personality is a little stubborn. Danica is rather lively.

At 1 year and 5 months old, reports indicate that Dia is a gentle girl. She can say mom, she walks well, and usually she likes to play at outdoors with children on the slide and swing. Dia is very cooperative. On Jan.11 2013, she had surgery for the exstropby of the bladder; however, the wound infected after the surgery and the suture split again. This surgery was not successful. The aunts like this little girl who has a gentle personality, hope that she can have surgery as soon as possible, and live a healthy and happy life.

Fowler is an active child with a bright smile. Currently he plays well with other kids and has no difficulty in communicating with strange kids. He likes sports and dancing to music. He accepts well in terms of learning and learns well on things he likes. He adapts well to new environments. He is a happy child who loves playing. One of his favorite toys are blocks.

Gavin is always smiling and very polite to others. He is described as “very sporty.” When reading aloud in class, he reads in a loud and confident voice. He can be very talkative at times! He cooperates well with others and is great at sharing! Gavin shows his emotions easily, “which makes him very lovely” according to his file.

Harold is handsome and has a fair complexion. He has a big smile! He is clever, can understand adult’s facial expression and tones, and gives the corresponding response. Harold likes to play in the yard, touch the flowers and grass, and likes to see the flying birds. It is hoped that he will be adopted by a family as soon as possible; to let him have a better living and learning environment, as well as to grow up healthily and happily.

It is stated that Heidi is outgoing and cute, her mouth is so sweet, and she is adored. She is social, can learn new things (slowly), but she insists on it until she can master it completely. Heidi can say hello to others and pronounce clearly, but her vocabulary is poor and compared to her peers, her intelligence is delayed. This sweet one needs to find her family so that she can reach her fullest potential.

When he hears familiar noises, he will turn his head to the left and right and look around to search for the source of the sound. He will also giggle when others play with him. He understands adults’ facial expressions and likes to be hugged.

CHD, VSD, aorta overriding, pulmonary stenosis, RBC increased, and trichiasis of left eye.

Reports state: Jacoby can raise his head when lying on his stomach, turn over when lying on his back, and can reach out his hands to grasp toys. He can crawl, find the source of sounds, his eyes can follow moving toys and people, and he can laugh loudly. Jacoby can turn his head when being called, can express “no”, is active, and has a ready smile. The caretakers spoil him to keep him from crying because he will lack oxygen if he cries due to CHD. They say he is very adorable, will gently smile back at you when he awakes, and is relentless. The caretakers hope he will be adopted by a family and that he will receive a good education and grow up happily. They sincerely wish the baby happiness.

Jia is a well-behaved and sociable girl, who can sometimes be a little shy. She often plays with the other children who live at the institute and can sing children’s songs and recite poetry from the Tang Dynasty. In the mornings she performs her physical exercises and dances with the other children. She gets along well with her peers. She enjoys garden. According to her file she is “blossoming in the care of her teachers.”

At the age of 8 months old, he could sit alone, could stand with his armpits held, and was afraid of strangers. Kevin could respond to the facial expressions of adults, could play alone, liked to roll over, and play on the cushions every day. He enjoyed when someone talked to him or communicated with him. Kevin would imitate mom’s words, liked to play games with familiar people; such as playing the game of “touching heads with adults”. When playing this game, he would laugh happily. It is stated that Kevin is “pretty and adored”.

Lia is an absolutely precious little girl. Her caretakers describe her as being so lovely and has sweet smiles to share with others. They also say she is optimistic and sensible. She only wants people that she is familiar with to hold her. If her foster mother leaves her, she would look around to find her. If Melia fails to find her, she will cry until her foster mother comes to her. Melia is a quiet and outgoing girl who loves playing with other children outside. She loves toys that can produce sound, including drums and balls. She also likes her bike.

At the time of the report, Wendall could walk in the activity room, could squat down and pick up toys on the mat, and liked toys with buttons. He could call “bababa” if he saw the nurturer giving biscuits to other kids, could hold the biscuits with his fingers, and would cry if he saw other kids drinking milk. He could sit up and drink milk himself, then played with toys after drinking. Wendall could walk to his nurturer for dinner while smiling. Reports state that, “He is smart and cute. We hope he can be adopted soon, have a happy family, and grow up healthily”.

Yannie is clever and active. At the time of the report, she could walk with hands holding onto her for support; her favorite food was black sesame paste, and rice flour. Every time Yannie would see that the food was black sesame paste, she would crawl to the caretaker, sit steadily, and ask the caretaker to feed her. She is a quiet girl who has a ready smile.

Zali can ask for hugs, has a good appetite, and can ask “mom” to feed her if she sees other kids being fed. She likes new toys.

Reports indicate that when Zurick was admitted, he was 2 months old and he was thin. After good care from his caretaker, now he is “naughty”. He is sensitive to music and can wave his body along with the rhythm. He can understand language. He likes colorful toys with sounds. He likes outdoor activities. The caretakers “hope he would find a happy family and grow up happily”.
